When life gives you lemons...

First and foremost, I have to retract a statement I made in my previous post. According to a close source of mine, I have come to understand that Ashley from Real Housewives of Orange County is actually a B*tch. She was horrible to my friend especially after all the sweet things that my friend tried to do for her. She is pretty much a dirty trick slut and I will have nothing to do with her and neither should you!

May kept me busy that's for sure! It was mostly filled with busy work weeks, working out at the gym, and staying active in my new single's ward. Little did I know in order to stay "active" in the ward meant going to at least 4 activities per week! Let's just say after I attempted all 4, my bishopric gave me a calling after only the 2nd week of church. They "say" my job didn't have too much to do with it, but I don't believe it. My new calling is inter-ward activities chair. You got it, not just ward activities chair, but inter-ward. That means they want me to involve multiple wards besides our own in the activities I plan. They want at least one per month which means I am behind since I haven't planned one yet. Now, my job is Family Festival Coordinator for the City of Cedar Hills which means that I am planning the annual Family Festival in July. This is a 5 day festival with many many events where over 5,000 people are expected. Not that I need the pressure to pull this off, but if I do it well, I will be offered the job as Community Services Director for the city and get salary. So pretty much that doesn't leave me time for such a big calling, but I DO do well under pressure SO BRING IT.

Of course work is pretty stressful sometimes. I mean I have to go to other city's festivals to do "research" and find my competitive edge. I invite vendors to be our vendors. I check out the layout of the carnival. I also went to "Huck Finn Day" which sucks by the way. Totally boring...even if you are a kid! Anyway, it's a pretty chill day a work when I am doing "research"...LOL.

The latest drama this week was completely and utterly my mistake. My family moved to Cedar Hills into a newly built house last summer. So as my family ALWAYS does, we are continually decorating and painting and improving the home. It all started with my brothers' bathroom. Luke painted it and spruced it up. Then my mom's office had to be painted since it was right next door. Well I had the itch to do my bathroom next, but didn't want the help of Luke since he is ANAL about doing it when and how he wants. So I waited for him to go to California last weekend and decided to do it myself. I had the vision of what colors would work and was super psyched to pull it off! I go to home depot and end up calling my dad to ask him what kind of paint rollers to buy (you'd think this would be the red flag to make me ask for help, but it didn't stop me). THEN it takes me at least an hour to buy the paint. $100 later, I go home and start the project. I know that I have to tape it off and I start with the toilet room. Envision this...a bright mustard color. This is NOT the color I was expecting to see. I was thinking more of a golden color. Sunday, I start on the sink room. The color I picked is a faux designed to look like antique leather with a cherry red base and a charcoal black glaze. So I finish the red color and am MORTIFIED! It looks like ketchup and mustard! I start freaking out that this will all turn out wrong. I try to keep in mind that I have to wait for the paint to dry before I put the glaze on top. I read the directions of how to put the faux finish up and begin the large wall only a couple hours later. As I am using a particular brush to put the glaze over the red, I am seeing the wicked design come alive! I can see that this will look so rad and get ahead of myself AS ALWAYS. Since I had only read half the directions, I missed a couple key points to getting this design right and before I know it, I am putting layers over layers and soon it is almost a completely dark maroon wall! This is NOT what I had planned and realize that I have completely RUINED the design. I got frustrated and stopped. I went to my dad, complained that I had messed up to which he says, "just repaint the wall and start over". Yeah right! As I was on my way to pick up Luke from the airport that night, I realized I would have to ask for his help...SUCK! The next day, we go to home depot and pick out the toilet color again. This time we pick a metallic deep gold which turned out PERFECT. Then he repaints that initial wall I had painted red again. As he puts the faux design on the other walls, they turn out perfect as always because A) he knows what he is doing, B) he read the directions all the way through, & 3) he always freakin does it right the first time! Luke saves the day which annoyed me, but I was very grateful too. Then it was off to Linens & Things because of course, everything I bought a year ago for the bathroom doesn't go with the new colors. So first were the towels which was distressing to decide. Next were the floor mats which were SWEET. Finally was Pier 1 for the accessories. All in all, it turned out pretty much perfect. I was able to take my freakin lemons and make lemonade, but it only worked out with the help of Luke and my mamma. But I am 23 years old. Why couldn't I get a freakin bathroom right? It's a bathroom! It is not that difficult, right? Well leave it to C to make it difficult. If there's anything you need help with making difficult let me know. So here are pics of the masterpiece. Oh, and don't judge...I usually am pretty good at the whole interior design thing...

Very Nice C. No judging since I know you are usually pretty good at this stuff... but hillarious regardless!

C - Your bathroom looks sweet. Too bad you don't live here with me because I am taking a faux finishing painting class. No seriously. I laugh everytime I say it too, but soon I will be able to paint leather!! Lucky you had Luke around because your bathroom looks AWESOME!

Ciara,
Great Blog lady! I'm impressed with the whole 'visioning' the bathroom situation. Can you help me someday?
