Say my name, say my name...

OK, so we all know that my "cuz" the R&B artist, Ciara, made my name popular, but the name Ciara itself has NEVER been popular growing up. In fact, I'm pretty sure that 1 out of my 100 teachers (give or take a few) has pronounced it correctly. Like I care how people say my name. I have gotten oh so many pronunciations to last a lifetime (e.g. chara, cierra, cyria) just to name a few.

THEN all these latins or returned missionaries think that my name is from mexico or something and say my name with an accent. SORRY BOYS, not the case. For the record, here is the origin:

First Name: Ciara
Origin: Gaelic/Irish

Meaning: Dark (LOL...that is the best part)
History: Feminine form of CIARAN. Saint Ciara was an Irish nun who established a monastery at Kilkeary in the 7th century.

Middle Name: Melina
Origin: Greek
Meaning: Black (hmm...I am seeing a trend here)
History: Derived from Greek (meli) meaning "honey".

Last Name: Decker
Origin: German, Dutch

Meaning: Occupational in origin, this surname most likely derived from the Old High German word "decker," denoting one who covered roofs with tile, straw or slate. The meaning of the word expanded during the Middle Ages to encompass carpenters and other craftsman and was used to refer to one who built or laid the decks of vessels. From the German Decher, meaning the quantity of ten; this may also have been a name given to the tenth child.

Ok, so I am a half mexi, 1/4 german, 1/4 dutch (but really 1/4 french because the family escaped to Holland during the war from France and changed their last name and adopted the culture), with an Irish first name, a Greek middle name, and a German/Dutch last name who speaks English as a first language, french as a second language (basically I can't speak it, but I can barely read it), with sign language as a close third (only if you sign slow), and spanish as a distant fourth (since I know about 20 words total).

Confusing enough?
