Golden Birthday!!!

This year my birthday happened to fall two days after Easter. It was quite convenient then, that we were hosting our first annual Schofield Easter Surprise. We invited a couple friends over, threw the ham in the oven, and enjoyed a SPLENDID TASTY feast. It really works out great when everyone brings a little something (thanks to cook Ashley she brought A LOT of somethings).

I started making Lyle and I Easter baskets (because unless you have an AMAZING martha stewart husband, you won't get a basket unless you make it yourself), and I started thinking I would make a little basket for everyone at dinner! It was fun and easy to make with my last minute buys and treats. They made for great place settings.

This year I turned 25 on March 25 - hence the "golden" birthday. Boy, don't I feel old! I actually have been excited to mature to 25 for a while now. I felt as if I would be taken more seriously and not be called "so young" all the time. Now that I'm here, I plan on staying 25. I guess 26 won't be so bad, but I can see how the dreaded 30, 40, 50 birthdays come along in a flash. Hopefully I won't turn into that 51 year old woman who still says it's her 25th birthday...NO WAY! I will try just taking it one year at a time and we'll see how that goes.

This is the DELECTABLE fruit tarte that Lyle picked up as my surprise birthday cake. I WAS IN LOVE. If I could have one bite of anything before I would die, it would DEFINITELY either a banana split, or a bite of fruit tarte. I was seriously in heaven and luckily Lyle and I got to enjoy it for a few days. He was such a smart man. Go Lyle!

Do you see how serious I am about blowing this baby out? WOW! I didn't realize it until I saw the picture. HA! There weren't even 25 candles! Was I worried I wouldn't blow all eleven candles out? It makes for a good picture I guess?

After the 5 course meal (ok it felt like that), I had planned for us to dye Easter Eggs! I love this tradition that my family and Lyle's have grown up with. It forces you to be creative and messy (two things that are good for me). I can't wait to keep this tradition alive throughtout the coming years.
Here I am with Ashley and our eggs! We had to wear aprons so we wouldn't spill. Are we 5 years old? Yes, I spill EVERYTHING.
Here are Jerrel and Heather (LOL...Heather is wearing one of Lyle's t-shirts because unfortunately she did spill - no worries, she got it out)! Jerrel is holding what looks like a poo brown egg, but really it's supposed to be a dark purple to show his devotion and eternal love for you know who: the Sacramento Kings. Heather is one lucky girl.

Ashley and Ryan. Ryan is one lucky guy.

After dying the Easter Eggs, we moved on to the final event of the evening: watching the Prince of Egpyt DVD and enjoying some dessert. I grew up watching the 10 Commandments which was VERY UNREASONABLE for a child under the age of 16, however I always managed to enjoy a nap. Lyle and I love this DVD so we decided to make that our tradition until the kids (which we don't have nor are any on the way) get older.

After the beautiful sunny 50's-60's degree Sunday..."We looked out the window and what did we see?" SNOW! LARGE FULL SNOWFLAKES! What?! Yes, I made Lyle and I take a picture out on the deck with the snow behind us so we could remember how crazy of an evening that was. Full of fun, friends, and laughs. Thanks for coming! We'll see where and how we do it next year!

WOW Ciara, what a fantastic picture of me! Thanks friend! hahaha I hope you did have a wonderful B-day with dinner and NY! We are going to miss you guys SO much. We are glad that we are friends--even if Lyle and I don't quite understand each other yet. ;) One day we'll be able to play games together and "understand" each other.
