I took a Louisville Slugger to both headlights...

One thing on the to-do list before we left KY was to hit the Louisville bat museum. The Mills (of Sacramento) joined us for a wonderful afternoon downtown. Here we go!

There is a wicked huge bat at the entrance.
Lyle on the pitcher's mound. It's a mini-mock up of an infield. Pretty fun!
Wax figurines.
You couldn't take pictures "in" the actual factory tour, so this was the best I got. We did get to see actual bats being made. There are some 1000 different variations of Louisville Slugger bats possible. We saw where some of the "player" bats were stored. We also were interoduced to the "marry me" bat where actual guys propose to girls (during the tour) with a bat that says, "will you marry me". We saw the Carrie Underwood pink bat which her song refers to. It was pretty cool. We even got to take home a mini bat from the tour. At the Louisville airport, they have a case of thousands and thousands of these mini bats which they have confiscated at the security line warning you that you cannot take these on the plane. It's pretty funny. Now we have our very own (which we will DRIVE not fly to New York).
All the bats you could choose from to personalize and take home.
We decided on the dark cherry brown bat with Gold print. We opted for "classic"...hope it works!
The girls are engraving our bat with our personal message on it.
It only took about 5 minutes for them to do this too!
TA-DA!
It says "Team Schofield 2007-2008"
(for the year we spontaneously lived in Louisville, Kentucky)
Of course Lyle had to hit the batting cages. I think the balls were 40 mph and he had 10 tries. After the first three pitches he started hitting them. He loved every second...came out of the cage like a little boy on Christmas morning.
Here we are upon exit...with our new bat!
