Mom met Manhattan

Mom came for a visit from the west coast. She was mistaken as a "new yorker" and I must say she more than knew the scene before she left. Here is 4 days "decker" style (this means on the go go go with shopping and good food):
Mom standing in front of the World Trade Center under construction--each crane represents each tower that fell. Then Battery Park with the fall foliage and Brooklyn Bridge from the water taxi we took.
New York is nothing without shopping...at least to most of us. We dropped by the big department stores and mom dropped some cash while she was at it...yikes! Here is the decor from Saks & Macys. I love the "believe-o-meter " and santa's mailbox.Street performers are the norm in Manhattan, but we happened to see a few more interesting ones while mom was here. The first kept singing about "baby mama, baby daddy, and who each was". The guys would put on a blonde wig...it was HYSTERICAL. The other was a latin duo which mom couldn't help but cheer on. The last was a group of black kids doing some flips and break dancing...my personal favorite.
Time Square doesn't have much to do (in my personal opinion), but you can't help but get a big smile across your face when you see those big lights. Only mom found a few places to shop here...ha.An actual cannoli! I tried my first cannoli! It was VERY creamy and rich...quite the experience. Also pictured is St. Patricks Cathedral, the today show set, a cute French store I had never noticed, a statue, and Radio City (which Lyle and I will be visiting again soon for the Christmas Spectacular--booya).
Rockefeller Center had it's ice rink up! We caught the day time and the night time views and decided to eat lunch at Rock Center Cafe. Zaggat gave it a 19, but I give it a 20 or 21. It's all about the experience and the ambiance. Seeing the City at night is so very cool, which I haven't done too much on my own. Here's the Met, Columbus Circle, a carriage, and the LDS temple.
Viewing Manhattan from the top of the Empire State Building was one of my highlights! Either the Empire was lit up for Christmas or they heard a Mexican was in town?Well, on her way in town, mom had an interesting cab experience, but before she left she hailed a taxi and got us home without any problem. GO mom! It was so great having family in town, escaping the real world of work, and getting treated to goodies and food! Mom sure knows how to take care of her girls...and how to exhaust us too! Thanks mom for all you did. See you soon!

I am so jealous of your NY life! You seem so happy. Family is so fun to have around. I wish my family would come and visit us. We have been in KY for 2.5 years, and my family hasn't been out here. SAD!
