I think February was a big eating out month for us (we will soon see in the budget review-yikes).
The Volstead
This restaurant/bar was our vday date destination. As previously mentioned, it was a FABULOUS experience and we can't wait to go back.

Bistango
This little Italian restaurant was our stop for a lunch date after an early matinee viewing of Slubmdog Millionaire (which was obviously amazing). The restaurant was very clean, well organized, the service was excellent, and the decor was cute/modern. Alanis Morissette playing in the background hurt the ambiance a little, but what can you do? The food itself was ok, but not memorable. The sauce was far too sweet, and a little overpriced, but you could also say it was average for New York. We probably won't go again, but will explore other neighborhood Italian places.

Coopertown Diner
Have I mentioned our favorite neighborhood diner? I am almost positive I have expressed the pure joy of eating blueberry pancakes at CTD, but it is also worth mentioning again. We will contintue to enjoy a quick bite to eat with helpful service and never a wait at Coopertown Diner. We have never ordered anything we hated, and the menu is about 10 pages long, so we've got a variety of foods to interest us for the next 3 1/2 years.

Posto Pizza
Our lunch date today was at a local pizza restaurant/bar that I had heard amazing reviews of. Its thin crust pizza could look burnt to the naked eye, but didn't taste a bit black. It is a VERY New York restaurant with its many different olives covering almost every salad on the menu, higher prices, and above all - it's ambiance. The seating, the music, and the atmostphere was perfect. Music actually played from a modern day jukebox kept up by the staff, but with a dollar slot for customers too. Lyle enjoyed his (can you guess) bottled root beer which was made by a company we had never tried before, in New York. I enjoyed a PERFECT glass of Lemonade. The server brought me the mixture of water and fresh squeezed lemon juice with a separate container of "sugar juice" to add myself. It was great because I could make it as sweet or tart as I wished (a perfect touch). We ended the meal with a brownie a la mode. This was no ordinary brownie a la mode, it was one of a kind. The outside of the brownie was a harder shell while the inside was much warmer, moist, and fudgy. The ice cream was a Tahitian vanilla bean. The presentation was beautiful with a chocolate drizzle and (of course) a TINY strawberry. We left ALMOST full. I was perfectly full, but Lyle enjoyed yet another not one, but two slices of NY pizza off the street on the way home (but it was cheaper). Because of the price, we tweaked our original rating, but we WILL be back!

That's all for now, but don't worry. We will keep at it! We will do our utmost to attempt to be foodies and evenutally venture out of our neighborhood.

WOW. I am endlessly jealous of your living in the Big Apple. I mean, it must be HEAVEN for pregnant women with countless cravings!!
When I come to NY to visit, I want to drink that lemonade. I love lemonade, but hate the "tap" kind because it is too sweet. I love tart lemonade, so that would be perfect for me. I am so jealous of your NY escapades!
next time we come to NYC a. i hope you are still there and we can see you and b. you can take us to all your fav places!
