The trip down to florida not only started out the way Lyle and my trips always start out with, but gave us even MORE crazy things to deal with. We got to the airport and literally only made our flight because our flight was delayed (thanks snow). Why do we always cut it close with our flights? Let's just say that we BOTH understimate how long it will take to do things. OOPS. After a delay in SLC and then a delay in Denver, we finally make it down to Orlando, Florida.
MIRACLE #2
We get our bags, pick up the rental car with Bryan (Lyle's brother), and head over for some grub. It was no ordinary dinner at Chilis...we realized that Lyle FORGOT his passport. Over the next two hours my stomach is turning, Lyle is content with the fact that he is not going on the cruise, and we are calling all around to find someone to take his passport to the airport in time. Lucky for us, Clark (Lyle's roommate), was up to the task and after 100 mph down the I-15 to the airport, he made it just in time. I was in communication with Billy from Fed Ex and pretty much started crying on the phone to make him stay open ten extra minutes so that Clark could get there in time. FINALLY he made it and the next morning we recieved the passport before 10AM. I have a newfound love for Fed Ex.
MIRACLE #3
So that day (Wednesday) the fam comes into town and we eventually drive to Port Canaveral and doc the ship. We settle in our cabins, get all our luggage, and the boat takes off. That night we had our dinner and saw the show of the night: Hurcules. It was entertaining and fun to get in the spirit that is Disney. The boat was a little rocky and I had to take my dramamine. Lyle and I then watched the 12:01AM session of Meet the Robinsons. It was funny I suppose, but a total A.D.D. kid movie.
Thursday, we docked into the Bahamas where we went to Atlantis and walked around the streets.
Atlantis is BEAUTIFUL. The resort has it's own private aquarium, beach, on site waterfalls, and amazing architecture. I couldn't get over how much I loved it.
Here is the picture of the 14 foot sting ray they had in the aquarium:
It really was a different world and everything was so crazy. I LOVED the Bahamians with their colorful buildings and accents. Sadly I didn't pick up anything from Nassau. I guess I'm not too into the whole souvenir thing if I can't actually use it. That night we boarded the boat, went to dinner, and saw another show. This one was called the golden mickeys and it was pretty much giving awards for the best princess, couple, comedy, and villian. It was definitely cute.
Saturday was hands down my FAVORITE day. We woke up and docked into Castaway Cay which is a Disney owned island. At Castaway Cay they have the same boat they used for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It looks pretty sweet. There, we fed and swam with sting rays, snorkeled (although somehow we didn't go to the right place and therefore saw barely any fish), layed out on the beach, and played water volleyball.
Oh and we biked all over the island too! That was maybe my favorite part since it was so fun. Lyle thought he was so funny and cool b/c he could do tricks. I humor him because he is so good lookin.
We headed back to the ship where we got ready and Lyle and I had our own private dinner to the adult only restaurant (because we're adults right). Dinner was good and the calamri was the BEST I had ever had! After dinner we met for the family photo (yes, I was in this) which actually didn't turn out great, oh well. Post photo-op, we went to the show called Dreams which was kind of cute too. Then we headed back upstairs to get out of our dress clothes. Well I guess you're wondering where miracle #3 comes into play? I will tell you. After we changed we went to the top deck to watch the final four basketbal game on the big screen. We saw the last five minutes and then decided to walk around the boat. We walked and walked and finally stopped at the stern. I couldn't get over the view of the moon hitting the water. It seemed surreal. We talked about the show we had seen that night and how my favorite part was the finale. I LOVED the finale. Lyle says, "If you liked that finale, check out this finale." All of a sudden twirls me around to face him. I go in to kiss him, but he pulls away and falls down on one knee. Then he proposes and goes onto a little speech. I am holding onto the railing because I feel like I'm going to fall down. I accept his proposal and we hug and kiss for many minutes (MIRACLE #3). Sunday was sad because the cruise was over. After we leave the ship we get our rental car and drive for 7 HOURS to get to Marathon, Florida which is in the keys. This is where Grammy lives and we are going down to visit her. We have an amazing lobster meal down there and wake up on Monday to go to the beach. Later that day Lyle and I drove Bryan down to Key West (about an hour and 1/2 away) to get him to the airport. Then we hit another beach down there, go back to the hotel to change up, and head to the wharf to watch the street performers and to see the sunset. We actually got there too late for sunset, but we did see the BEST magician I have EVER seen. He pulled a freakin canteloupe out of a hat! WTF?! It was incredible. Then we went back to the hotel, ordered in pizza, and watched the final basketball game. Tuesday we woke up and were on the plane in Key west by 11am. We had FOUR legs of the trip! We went from Key West to Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa to St. Louis to Salt Lake City! Finally we made it home to provo around 11pm Provo time so that means we were traveling for 14 hours (east coast time)!
Now it's back to real life and maybe I should shower and get to work. I was going to hit the gym since it's been since last friday that I ran, but really my body is dead. Let's see...my to do list: work on the easter egg hunt, drive up to cedar hills to take care of my brother until my mom gets home on Monday, oh and plan a wedding and my LIFE with mcLyle.
We are so so so happy and excited for what's around the corner.
Hopefully these next few months fly by so that it can be June 23, 2007 where we will be sealed in the Timpanogos Temple.
