To Dallas and Back I go

My mom and I went down to Dallas for my sister's bday & baby shower. Did she know she was having a baby shower? NO siree! That is what you call a surprise baby shower. And was she surprised? Yes indeedy! She had no clue. It was pretty funny because in her state of pregnancy (aka her delicate condition as we call it) she is pretty apathetic, a little irritable about things.

Mom made up this pretty good lie about needing to have a lasik appointment on a Saturday at 1pm from a woman's husband she knows in Dallas (come on kiers catch on). I have to admit, I ad-libbed and played along pretty well. Luckily Jamie drove so she was in on it as well. So we're driving and "oh, there it is, I see it." All of a sudden we walk past a COLOR ME MINE store and Kiers says, "why don't we make some plates while we're here?" So I say, "Ok, sounds fun," and we walk in. Kiers thinks I'm still playing along with her (ya know, taking it to the next level in jokes), but then we walk to the back of the room and we see our good old friend, Jeni (with baby Natalie in tote). Kiers is like, "What are you doing here? What's going on?" Hello Kiersten! This is your surprise Baby Shower!

She was surprised.
Still Surprised.
Phase two was lunch at La Madeline's which is kind of a small bistro/cafe down South and it is MARVELOUS! I would recommend it! To surprise her there was an aunt and cousins. She was surprised and was showered with gifts.

I dyed onesies in different sizes different colors. Then I wrote on them funny phrases like, "I have baby fat, what's your excuse", "punk rock", "rock me", "baller", and other such non-gender specific phrases. I left a few blank and then we decorated the rest Sunday night. They turned out WAY better. If you ever do this project, ask me what to buy, because I did it two ways and way #2 was perfect!

What else was the trip filled with besides that wonderful Saturday surprise? We first started out buying maternity clothes (not for me, for Kiersten). Target and Mimi's Maternity aren't too bad. I was impressed. Then it was off to Baby's R Us for some essentials. A crib, a rocker, a bouncer, a carseat, and a stroller later we were finally done. And you should have SEEN the car we had to fit it in! Kiersten drives a Pontiac G6...not to spacious. Let's see, I had to drive around with boxes and luggage sitting next to me the entire weekend. Ok, it was KIND of funny.

So now luckily Kiersten is mostly set for the arrival of FETUS! I like to call it fetey but Kiers is not so into that name. Anyhoo, we shopped (because there is MUCH SHOPPING IN DALLAS) and I was exhausted! I did, however, get excited about Dallas. I told Lyle I really liked it and I secretly hope we move there! I mean, I even made a new friend from their ward at church! Shopping, Friends, Cheap Real Estate, and Beautiful Land...Dallas beckons me!

Ok, that's enough. More pictures of the weekend to come!

I'm glad you blogged about last weekend! I loved every minute of it, thanks so much for doing everything for my shower and the onesies and just everything! I love you and miss you, CiCi! Hope living at home for the last couple months is great! Haha, I had to do it too so it's only fair right? Love you!
