Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus

So we went to VCU (virginia commonweath university) for another dental school interview Lyle had earlier this month. It was literally a 24 hour trip. Richmond, VA is a little over 8 hours away so after work we hopped in the car and drove into the night. We drove through Marshal (we are marshal...the movie), West Virginia and Charleston which I thought was a super cute city. Then good ole' Ciara got us lost by taking the long loop instead of being patient and waiting for the very next exit to get us where we needed to go. Let's just say it took about 45 minutes longer because of my detour. Poor Lyle was asleep since it was 2am and it was HIS interview we needed to be there for the very next morning at 7:30. So we get to our hotel...the Omni...which is supposedly the 2nd best hotel in the city (booya for us). Our room was FABULOUS and we finally get to bed. By this time Lyle and I weren't really speaking out of pure frustration with each other. I asked him if he needed me to set my alarm and he said not to worry about it--that he would get up and get to his interview on his own. So furiously I went to bed not worrying about it. The next morning my body clock wakes me up at 7:03am. I look over and there is Lyle fast asleep. I scream, "you're late!" He jumps out of bed and says, "No I'm not!" I tell him the time and he runs into the shower and ends up only being 5 minutes late to his interview. I was redeemed from the night before by getting him up that morning. I spent the morning sleeping in, getting some breakfast downstairs, taking a nice hot bath, and watching the snow fall outside. Finally Lyle got out of his interview and met me at the hotel around 3pm and we were on the road back to Louisville. But that couldn't be the end could it? No no! We ended up driving through the first real snowstorm of the season out there! Lyle is ever so confident in the snow which makes me nervous. Luckily his car had the automatic traction or whatever it is. We ended up getting home around midnight and we were off to work the very next day. It was quite the 24 hours, but now we can say we've been to Virginia? I wish Lyle could have enjoyed the sweet hotel with me, but oh well. He's a hard working man. The interview went well, but we wouldn't find out until February or March if he got in. NYU is higher on the scale than VCU anyway. At least it'll give us more options says Lyle.

I can't help but love love LOVE Nutcrackers. I hate looking like a tourist (even though I AM in a hotel), but I had to take this pic. The Hotel had huge massive storybook decor, nutcrackers, Christmas trees, etc. I loved every sight!
