O Tanenbaum!

Who loves Christmas trees? I DO I DO! On December 1 Lyle woke up and went out to get me a Christmas tree, first thing. He is so good to me. I knows that I NEED that to make it feel like Christmas. I decided to make my own Christmas tree too (see lights below)! I put up some Christmas decor (trying not to make it too tacky is always my goal), and we went out and bought ornaments and lights.

I used ornaments that I had inherited from my family and some of my own that I had made over the last few years as well. Of course, my Nutcracker is right next to the tree too!
We bought a skirt and a tree stand and white and purples lights. Yes, we bought purple lights. Why? Well, I wanted Lyle to help decorate and tree and not for me to make my own perfect tree so I asked him what he thought we should do. We saw purple lights and he thought that was the coolest thing. Hence, the purple lights. I really do like how the tree ended up. It's no martha stewart design, but I am still embracing every moment I can with it lit up. I think we'll take it down this weekend or on New Years Day as it is becoming very dry.
Here the presents were really starting to pile up...it was very exciting!

I told Lyle next year we didn't have to get a real tree because we would have the big one in New York City to look at and he was like, "we should get SOMETHING...even if it's a 4 or 5 footer". By this, I knew I had truly converted him. I think he will definitely miss the Christmas tree when it is gone...as will I!
