Ward Talent Night

We had a ward talent show which was the wards first. Since we are on the activities committee and because Lyle loves to share his talent, he signed up to play/sing a few songs. For some reason he told me this performance would be a ‘Ciara Night’. He decided to play Coldplay’s ‘Green Eyes’ and a song he wrote for me. He would sing Green Eyes to me when we were dating (since I have green eyes of course). Then one day he was messing around on the guitar and he played a rhythm which was so pretty that I told him he couldn’t mess it up by making it a “hard listening”—the genre he made up—song. He promised me he wouldn’t and in turn made it my song.

So his turn was up and I pulled out the camera to take a few shots. As he’s talking to the audience explaining his performance (as you can imagine can be quite entertaining) he says that I remind him to keep his eyes open as he plays/sings. He said this was difficult for him to do so to help him, he would have me sit up on the stage with him so that he could sing these songs to me and not be distracted by the audience. Then, he pulled up a chair and told me to come up. This came out of LEFT FIELD, but I knew I couldn’t get out of it, so I put the camera down and walked my red face up onto the stage.

Lyle is so unpredictable because one minute he’ll put you on the spot and the next, he’ll try to keep things low key. Therefore, he will ALWAYS be unpredictable…ESPECIALLY when it comes to being romantic (because he’s not a romantic—most of the time).

Here are a few of the photos our friends took.

By the way, my song would put any pop stars’ to shame. Once he is finished recording it (he is in the process—which will be at least another few months) I will post it on the web.

the ward missionaries ALWAYS have to provide a funny/satirical skit right? RIGHT.
and cute little boys giggle into the microphones while they are trying to sing songs in spanish (what little white haired boy knows spanish songs? this one!)

and bishoprics lip sync to some old classic song...
and here's mr. wonderful about to perform...

but before he does that he makes me come up so he can serenade me

the Sunday after that everyone from the ward was like, "oh you two are SO in love" ha...

then this guy from boston played the BAGPIPES! What?!
