Helter Skelter Saturday

By Saturday the house is typically a little helter skelter. I refuse to use my Friday night to do dishes or clean or be super productive. Hence, dishes pile up from Thursday night on until we clean on Saturdays. Luckily Lyle is much better about cleaning than I am. I enjoy cleaning on Saturdays (but not deep cleaning…I get over cleaning after about an hour of doing it). I feel like I am supposed to be embarrassed of my dirty house, but guess what? I don’t feel bad…because I clean it up! Because I am so proud of my mess and actually cleaning it up, I can post a picture of it! It cracks me up really, because I know what to expect every Saturday afternoon before or after we get home from the grocery.

The best day about THIS particular Costco run is that we picked up a bed frame. This may not seem like a big deal, but it IS! Lyle purchased our mattress (our first huge purchase in a long stream of large purchases…blah), but when he did, we never got a bed frame. So we’ve had the mattress on top of the box spring on the floor these past 7 months. Having a frame under our mattress has made a world of difference to the look of the room and the give of the bed. I LOVE IT! That $35 went a LONG way. Thank you COSTCO! The only downside to our Costco trips? It’s 20-25 minutes away and we always come up with things we “NEED” to put on our to-budget-for list.

When we have our Saturday Costco run, though, the trash REALLY piles up. We’ve got empty boxes, a full fridge, and organizing so that we can fit everything in cupboards.
Eww...this is BY FAR the thing that I hate to clean the MOST in our entire house! It is the grill we cook on daily. Here we had bacon grease from the morning's breakfast with waffles. YUCK!

Sometimes we hit the Costco concessions and get gross greasy pizza OR we get a rotisserie chicken from Costco and come home and eat some of that with fresh fruit instead! Then we have room for a REAL treat. I have yet to coin an official name for this treat, but besides Popsicles/fudgesicles, it is our main treat we enjoy. Graham crackers with frosting…YUM. We only have this when I have leftover frosting from cupcakes that I make for church activities. Is there a name for this delight? Maybe graham delight? Any suggestions or names you use? You MUST know about this treat and if you were my roommie in college then YES, you knew about this treat because I worshiped it.

C,
I love getting glimpses into your life with the Lyle. A few things:
1. Call me, I lost my phone with all my numbers.
2. Watch or Tivo Ellen tomorrow, I am on it. at the very end, and she dances by me. Pretty much the ultimate thrill.
3. I heart you.

we officially granted this special treat a name: HEAVEN.

Lyle didn't even know I had blogged about this and he asked me tonight, "would you like some of what I'm making?" I said, "what's that?" He replied, "heaven".

There you have it folks...it's now called heaven.

I love that treat....my grandma used to make it for us when we were little. Try graham+PB+chocolate frosting. Delightfully delicious.

Just FYI-- you can't name that treat because it isn't a Ciara original...my mommy used to eat that when she was a kid! Her favorite is Chocolate frosting. (I won't admit it to you, in fear that we won't be friends anymore--I don't like it).

oldie but goodie
