Isabel Ruth Nielson is one year old today.
I cannot believe how the time has flown. I was there four days after she was born, and I realized what a natural mother Kiki had become. I also realized that I had fallen in love for the second time that year. Isabel was a breath of fresh air, yet she took my breath away.
Six weeks later I saw her laughter and much more of her personality at her blessing. I saw my Lyle hold and soothe her instinctively which was very touching.
Eight months after that, I saw the personality come alive in this wobbly tot. I saw Isabel light up when she was happy. I saw her recognize people around her. This made me happy and sad because I know my face isn't as recognizable as others are to her. I see so much of Kiers in Isabel and I see Kiers adore and keep up with her daughter like no one else can.
In three days I will be able to see Isabel Ruth again. Who knows how much she's grown since July! I cannot wait to giggle and play with her all weekend long. Of course she'll never remember her first birthday, or her barnyard party, the people that were there, or the gifts she received. This is a party for family and friends. This is our "selfish" party to spoil little Izzy and make her smile. This is for all of us to remember how perfect she is and how important family is in our lives. See you soon Izzy!
I made this for her (ok, I tried to replicate someone else, but it was a heck of a lot cheaper and SO fun).
I went to FAO Schwarz to get the big girl her birthday gifts. I need to go back (especially at Christmas) to see the entire store, but what I briefly saw was AMAZING. There is so much for too much. Kids are entirely too spoiled and entirely too lucky! I cannot wait to have cool toys someday. You know, classics like a giant stuffed elephant or a $200 doll.
