You will NOT believe what happened to me?! The best best BEST thing in the entire world that could happen? My friend, Kimber, (who has been so dear to help us in this great City) offered me some extra tickets she had to the US Open! That's right! Ciara went to the US Open!!! I was watching this tournament a year ago in Kentucky thinking, "someday we should totally go to New York to see the US Open". But I was ACTUALLY there!!!

There were so many courts I couldn't even count them all! Players were practicing on them, there were smaller tournaments on them, and there were TWO stadiums in the park area.

I took this because you can see the city buildings in the background. So close yet so far away.

This was our view from our seats.

Ana Ivanovic vs. Vera Dushevina

The speed gun and the official along with the ballgirl and ballboy

The photographers clicking away!

Of COURSE Ana won! This serbian wears her emotions on her sleeve and is always clenching her fist with her arm in the air. She is adorable with her accent too. Vera really got shellacked during the first set, but the second set she really gave Ana a run for her money and beat her! Then Ana came back and even though it was close she won the third set. There were a handful of plays (on both players parts) that were just so indescribably horrible! You felt like you were there right next to that player and wished you could have stopped it from happening. The agony! Oh, but then the excitement when they volleyed back and forth for 2 minutes and finally one of them wins the point. Phew! It was draining.

Here's a picture of her up close if you don't know who she is. She is #1 in Serbia and she won the French Open this year, and most recently had to bow out of the olympics because of a thumb injury. We'll see what she can do here! I could have stayed to see Serena play, but I had to get back to work (bummer).

Here is a happy girl, Ciara. Wow...I will never forget this day and I hope there will be many more hereafter. Lyle and I are DEFINITELY planning on US Open tickets next year. We will be there all day long and will NOT let anything get in the way! Thanks again to my friend, Kimber for making it all possible!
