Life in Gramercy Park

I thoroughly enjoy my walks to work each day. I wake up (not at 6:15 like I used to in KY...yuck), enjoy some breakfast with my Beau, and we head out for the day. Lyle walks the 1 minute to school (north), while I walk (west) my 15 minute stroll to the New York Kids Club. It takes me 15 minutes on a BAD day (waiting for lights and such). Last week, I decided to take some photos so you could see what I enjoy each and every day.

I start out on 22nd Street (this is far less busy than 23rd street which is great) and I head west. I see apartment buildings and parking garages, a gym, and a few diners.
Trees line the streets making it a cozy walk. I pass the same mom walking her dog and the stroller with her son to preschool I'm sure. I see the same people leaving or entering the gym. I see the same doormen with whom we exchange hello's.
My favorite is when I pass the elementary school. All these uniformed children say goodbye to their nannies, moms, or dads. Some dads literally push their kid into a faculty member as they wave hello (obviously in a hurry on the cell with coffee in hand). They crack me up. I told Lyle we are sending our kids here because it is so close. Religious or not, I'm sure it's a great place!
The corner right before I get to work. This is Park Avenue. That Morton Williams Grocery on the corner is where I get most of my lunches in between classes. These lunches consist so far of diet cokes, apples, leanbars, and sometimes candy bars (oops). I really need to work on getting lunches that are healthier.
Here is the NY Kids Club. We have floor to ceiling windows in the classroom which allows us to look into the street at people and construction (always going on) in front of the building while we are having classes. This is such a great location for the business. It's in Gramercy, but I would say it is technically in the Flatiron District, it being between Park & Broadway.

Here is where I spend my lunch break. If I don't go home, then I come out and enjoy the air. It's not too cold to do this right now. It's perfect autumn weather and we love it! The park below is Madison Square park. I haven't traveled to many other parks (specifically Bryant Park which I need to go to), but I LOVE this quaint little park. Our students and nannies/moms/dads play often in this park. There is a playground, a dog park, and the shake shack! We went to the shake shack after the gym this weekend and even though it's not the BEST burger, fries, and shake, it sure comes close to each one. There was a cute little halloween festival there for the little ones which was fun to see too!
We are so blessed to be in the location we are. We try to remind ourselves of this each and everday we have to come home to our apartment. We were talking to a friend the other day and he said he was SURE rent was going to come down due to the financial crisees going on. We thought, WOW, what if we could score a one bedroom for less than $2,000? OMG, we would never leave NY!
