With our near perfect weather of the low 70's, we knew we had to do a few things outside. The first thing on our list was to walk the brooklyn bridge. We had been encouraged by friends to do so, so we thought Saturday would be perfect. But we couldn't begin our trek without a good meal to start.
I haven't mentioned our new diner. We have chosen Cooper Town Diner as "our" local diner these days. We both had the "special" blueberry pancakes. I don't like restaurant pancakes, but these were spectacular. Real blueberries, massive size, extraordinary! We are going back for more!

A hop on the L train, downtown the 6 train, and we were at City Hall ready to walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

The day couldn't have been more perfect for the walk. There was a slight breeze in the air with the sun shining on your face. Blue skies covered the skies without a cloud in sight.

I wanted to use this as our Christmas picture, but I'm not sure it'll do. It's a tad blurry and Lyle doesn't like when we forget to take off our sunglasses. BUT IT WAS SUNNY!

It was also a bit crowded. I want to go back, rent bikes, and bike across. That looked fun!

Pier 17 is a popular place where the "
southside seaport" is located east of the financial district. There are shops, restaurants, and historic boats. It also holds the largest privately owned fleet of historic ships in the country. Amongst those is one in particular I cannot wait to see called
W.O. Decker, a 1930 tugboat. This is on our next "to do" list!

A skyline of Manhattan from on the bridge. You can even see the statue of liberty (very tiny) on the left side.

WOW! So I guess the Brooklyn Bridge is the "gateway" to the Jehovah's Witnesses (or as we lovingly refer to them as Jdubs). I made a joke about it because I saw all the green (but I didn't know what the "watchtower" was), and Lyle confirmed my joke.
Brooklyn is the headquarters apparently.

So the building above was RIGHT on the water across the bridge. It was the first thing you saw coming in. The building below was straight ahead of you once you got off the bridge.

This is a larger view of the picture above. Every building you see here is a Jdub building.

We decided not to stay in Brooklyn. What's there to do in brooklyn anyway? "I heard Brooklyn is the new Manhattan....Only people from Brooklyn say that" (SATC quote). So we turned around and came back home. Next to City Hall park were break dancers giving everyone a performance. Saturdays in the City are always more entertaining because street performers are EVERYWHERE. They are next to every subway you hop on, they are on every corner, and in every park. I wish I could give a dollar to everyone I pass, but then we wouldn't just be poor, we'd be po.

More adventures to come!

Ciara--I am so happy that you guys are loving NY and just thriving there. The Lord knows...that is all I have to say. You guys were made for the city and I am so glad that is where you ended up, even though I miss you like crazy!!!! I am also a little (of, a lot) jealous!
