South Street Seaport

Three words...DON'T DO IT!

Friday night after Lyle helped me take the bridal shower stuff over to Betsy's, we decided to stop by South Street Seaport (which she lives two blocks from), to see what the fuss is all about. I had been there with another friend for some lunch one rainy afternoon, and again with my mom for some lobster bisque by the pier, but beyond that I hadn't explored it. Lyle also had heard good things and so we decided to explore.

Upon our exploration (on a Friday night), we found drunken tourists, many teenage kids, and for lack of a better word--hicks. Granted a Friday night is most likely much different than the afternoons there. I'm sure there are more mom's with strollers and Wall Street Suits having a bite to eat on their lunch break, but the people we saw plus the suburban shops and "food court" were more than enough to make us hurl at the thought of going back. The ONLY reason I would go back would be to show tourists or little kids the cool big boats...that's about it folks. So if you want our opinion on the matter...DON'T DO IT. Do not go to South Street Seaport to "enjoy a New York Experience". You will be sorry you did.
