We celebrate Valentine's on the 12th (original six month anniversary from the time we started dating and let's be honest, who doesn't want presents two days before everyone else). Well this year, I one upped Lyle (I owed him big time from Christmas). I asked him if he could attend a work dinner with me with my bosses. He agreed (this is how I reserved the date) because he didn't have an exam that day or the day after. It was also a good way to have him meet me at work, expect to go some place nicer (not jeans and sneakers), and not have any idea what we're actually doing because the man trusts me (what a fool). So we head just a few stops north into midtown. I realize that we have to eat because we'll both be starving, so I pick a quick stop at a place he's been dying to go. I tell him the address and when we get there he says, "What?! Baja Fresh? What's going on?! You're crazy!" He thought the surprise ended here for a few seconds and I couldn't keep it from him any longer! I showed him our tickets to see
In the Heights which is a Broadway show we've been dying to see (Lyle especially because they're referring to
Washington Heights, New York which is where ALL of the
Dominican's live). He freaked. He kept telling me I was crazy. I fooled him. He was stunned. I was happy. It was a great start to our Valentine's celebration (which was good since I ruined the next night's festivities which was our planned celebration by being sick).
What was even more amazing, was the show wasn't packed. When we entered with our tickets, the ushers showed us where are seats were (at the top), but explained because the show wasn't full, we could take much lower seats. Basically we got quite a bargain. We'll definitely try to go again on a Thursday night hoping people won't be coming!
What's funny is this really what the streets look like. They did a great job on the set.

Lyle recreated his shocked face at Baja Fresh.

I had to switch to my old lady glasses before the show. These are my new frames by the way! I love being ok with my inner nerd!
